David Hazen

From 2005-2009 David served as Principal at Peak to Peak Charter School in Lafayette CO. Prior to Peak to Peak Charter School, Mr. Hazen was the Principal at The Center for Discovery Learning (K-12th grade charter school) in Lakewood, Colorado from 2000-2003. In addition, from 1994–2000 he was the Assistant Director for Projects, Americorps, National Civilian Community Corps, in Denver Colorado.

Bridge School offered me the opportunity to help create a reinvented high school for the 21st Century, one that truly meets the needs of all students.  I am thrilled to work with such a great staff in such a worthy endeavor.

Bruce Allen

As an educator,  Bruce has 36 years of experience teaching, including working with programs for the gifted and curriculum planning.

My interests include writing, chess, downhill/cross-country skiing, kayaking, biking, hiking, traveling, and reading.

As a former teacher at the Bridge School, I am honored to be involved with the school in a different capacity. My passion is to help adolescents develop in a social and emotional fashion. Bridge School has always emphasized the personal development of students as well as the academic. As a result, the Bridge school community has always been special to me and makes it personally rewarding for me to be involved with this program.

Jacie Engel

Originally from central New York, Jacie earned her BFA in Art Education from Syracuse University. In 2006, motivated by the active and outdoor lifestyle, she made the decision to move to Boulder, Colorado. Now, she splits her time between teaching Art and PE at the Bridge School and working with little ones at a local preschool.

When not teaching, you'll find me trail running with my dog, snowboarding or testing my creative skills in the kitchen.

Kim Gardner

After teaching high school in the south for four years, Kim moved to Boulder with her husband and puppy. Kim is currently working on her Masters in English Literature at the University of Colorado, Boulder, which she plans to complete in the spring.

Teaching at Bridge School is a dream come true; I enjoy the personal relationships that I make with students and the flexibility that working in such an intimate environment affords.

Plett is engaged in a lifelong quest to explore and understand the Universe. Her passions include being with her magical family, playing with explosives, making things fly, seeking stars, collecting dead things, staring at the sun, cataloging rocks, dabbling in the arts, scribbling, stuffing waveforms in her ears and photons in her eyes, growing things in her garden, and perplexing her students to activate their minds.

Lisa's long service at Bridge school teaching both drama and vocals has made her one of the most popular teachers. 

One strength I bring to the classroom is my enthusiasm for connecting to the students.I am grateful to work in an environment like Bridge, which allows me the opportunity to share my passion for theatre with student on May Term trips.

Shannon Powell

A Florida native, I moved to Boulder with my husband and two sons. When not in the classroom, I enjoy running, swimming, skiing, camping, traveling, and spending time with my family.

Jimena Ugaz

Jimena has twelve years of experience teaching Spanish at the college level, both at CU-Boulder and at Middlebury College in Vermont.
