SUPPORTIVE COMMUNITY:
At Bridge School we believe that learning is best accomplished in a caring, safe and supportive environment. Our small class sizes enable us to enjoy and profit from a unique closeness among students and staff.
ENGAGING ACTIVITIES:
Beyond traditional academics, Bridge School students engage in a variety of extracurricular activities, including photography, art, music, soccer, volleyball, basketball and ultimate frisbee.
DYNAMIC ACADEMICS:
Academics are the core of a Bridge School education, with our challenging curriculum requiring students to take a variety of classes from the six core disciplines: English, mathematics, science, social studies, modern languages and the arts. We believe the deepest, best learning occurs when students must question, hypothesize and actively explore their subject matter. This philosophy is implemented through the daily practice of open question and answer, discussion, hands-on experiences and the promotion of original, creative thought. Through our personal education and teaching geared toward multiple learning modalities, each learner's uniqueness is valued and nurtured so each can reach his/her potential and thrive - preparing young people for college and global citizenship. Our students benefit from a small class size, a recognition of learning styles, and a personal relationship with each teacher who engages students who have multiple interests and talents.
UNIQUE EXPERIENCES:
Experiential education at Bridge culminates in the spring with our May Term projects and trips. These week- long, mixed age group explorations allow students to study areas of interest first-hand and in-depth. Groups travel far afield or focus their energies in a specific area close to home. Past May Terms have included Spanish language immersion and adventuring in Costa Rica, mountain biking in Moab, Shakespeare studies in England, chef-lead exploration of French cooking, amateur radio licensing, film and literature studies, studying of artists and their work in Paris, musical exploration at the Rock-n-Roll Hall of Fame, jewelry-making, eco-biological study of the Great Sand Dunes and cultural exploration in post-Katrina New Orleans. May Term is one of the highlights of the Bridge school year.
